If you thought a Top 5 of places to be photographed in Rome would be enough, think again: It probably means you have not left the Airport yet….
Rome is a veritable treasure trove of Photo opportunities: every piazza, every alley, every neighbourhood affords a vast array of possibilities, so doing a Top 5 is impossible, a top 10 also can only begin to scratch the surface, but then again, this is a blog post so we try and keep reasonably short.
So there you go: Couples, Honeymooners, Bachelorette parties, Stag do’s, families, friends or just single people looking to have a special experience around the beautiful city of Rome here’s another top 5 places to be photographed in in Rome:
The Spanish Steps
Iconic, Romantic, Sensual and just sheer beautiful. The Spanish Steps are so curvy and sensual design, the white steps contrast magnificently with the beautiful pastel coloured buildings on it’s sides and it looks just too much like a Theatre Stage not to be a perfect backdrop to Romantic photographs for couples and for Honeymoon photography.
However the 3 different floors it is set upon and the close proximity to Rome’s top shopping area, make it the ideal location for photos with family and friends.
To add to that, Bernini’s (the dad this time) fountain at the bottom of the steps is another great add-on for great photographs and as a way to try the world’s most flavoursome water in the world: Rome’s water!
Built in the 2nd Century AD by Emperor Hadrian, this is the most incredible temple surviving from Antiquity. The mathematics and engineering of it are mind-boggling and on one of our Photo-shoot and Guided Tours, our local guides will explain it all to you, whilst our photographers will be taking photographs of you which will make your memories of the Eternal City as eternal as this magnificent monument.
Photographing in between its huge marble columns, or inside, under the incredible self-supporting dome or still under the light shining in from the beautiful Oculus, The Pantheon is a truly unique experience, Awe-inspiring like few other monuments in the world!
The Bridge of Angels
Bernini’s Romantic Bridge is a perfect spot for Honeymoon Photography. It’s Languid looking angels swooping over the Tiber river and it’s beautiful views towards the Dome of St. Peter’s make it perfect for couples to hug and kiss with Michelangelo’s masterpiece in the background.
When you will be on the bridge, with the sun coming down behind you, Rome’s dramatic red sky enveloping the two of you, you will truly understand why Rome is short for Romance!
That would be enough in any other city in the world. But in Rome?…..No!
As if Bernini’s Languid Angels, and The Dome of St. Peter’s weren’t enough, turn around and at the end of the bridge, there it is: Castel Sant’ Angelo, The Castle of the Holy Angel, The Renaissance Fortress of the Popes sits at the end of the bridge and makes for another swooping backdrop, with the Angels on the bridge looking as though they are flying toward the Castle.
This is also another favourite spot for Fun photographs with friends and for family photos. Groups at Bachelorette parties love it here and sunset, maybe with a glass of Prosecco, often offered by us at Rome Vacation Photographer!
Very close to the Spanish Steps, and right on top of the imposing Piazza del Popolo the Belvedere on Pincio Hill affords beautiful Vistas over the Eternal City, its multitude of Domes and of course, the biggest of them all: Michelangelo’s Dome.
Besides it being beautiful and great for Couples and Honeymoon Photography,it is great for family photographs too, it is right in the beautiful Borghese Gallery and kids will be able to run around and be as expressive as possible, whilst friends can use the countless cornices that nature gives us for truly unexpected photographs.
This isn’t really a location, but a whole neighbourhood: It is a natural stage and it can work for all kinds of photography:
Honeymoon photography can use its beautiful fountains and medieval churches as backdrops as well as its cobblestone alleys to find beautiful and unexpected romantic corners to be photographed in. Its numerous, artisan stores, also give it a character that few other neighborhoods have.
Friends and young people will also enjoy its alleys, for fun street photography but also the graffiti and street-art around the neighbourhood will be excellent for a younger crowd, so also here Stag-Party photography, Bachelorette-Party photography and just friends travelling together will find plenty of hip, cool places to hang out and be photographed in.
Family photography works very well here too. Trastevere is mostly traffic-free,and has many Street Performers and Artists, which children always enjoy. The beautiful churches and alleys and shops, make Trastevere a real must on every photographic tour.
